Plant of the month – Hydrangea Paniculata ‘Limelight’

Lime green buds open to a creamy white flower with just the faintest hint of pink tinging the flowers as they mature. The heads are just heavy enough to make the branches sway  but it is generally a self-supporting shrub which depending on time of pruning,  will perform from late July through to November.

Limelight is a medium sized and vigorous shrub with a full height  and spread of around 2.5 metres or around 1.2 metres if regularly pruned.  It is happy in either full sun or dappled shade and with its longevity of bloom makes a fantastic highlight in August before the later summer flowering perennials come to the fore.
